    CDA - Grandma's House

My old roommate has a great family house on the lake in Idaho that we affectionately calll 'Grandma's House'.

Over the holiday weekend we were able to spend some time with her there, and continue the tradition of meeting and making great new friends. Without disappointing - Grandma's 2005 brought out late night dancing, swimming, good food, a few drinks, and a trip to Hudson's for lunch. Always a great trip for anyone involved.

    Baby Alec

Our dear friends have finally struck upon the official name for the baby previously nicknamed 'Seamus' by his father. Looks like we now have a little Alec to add to the happy family. He has some of the biggest feet I've ever seen on a little one and is happy and healthy which is really what counts.

Congrats Sally & Dean. You brought in a good one!

    Shi Shi Beach in July

This past weekend we made it out to Shi Shi beach again with some of our friends.  Weather was fantastic - made for easy camping - and the kids did great.

    Highlights of the weekend included:
    • Watching in awe as everyone managed to carry in enough stuff for 3 kids to camp - all 3 and under!
    • Having Declan make it in under his own power - hiking it all himself
    • Creating their first smore's
    • Great sunset
    • Beautiful sunrise

This year we only saw 1 seal and 1 eagle. Last time it was earlier in the season which likely made the difference.

Goals for next year - get the rest of the gang out there with us! We missed Karl & Kaki, Analisa, Kirsten and Steve. hopefully next time they can join us - along with others who brave the kids camping trip. :)

    Bachelorettes in NYC

Got to spend the weekend in NYC helping to celebrate my friend Kerry's bachelorette weekend. Nothing like spending a few days dining, spa-ing, and catching up with cool ladies.

    Top recommendations from the weekend:

    • Mi Cocina - fabulous Mexican food in the Village on Jane Street
    • Gourmet Garage - great cheeses and treats
    • Jones Day Spa - nice spa, wish the 'water features' had been turned on, would have liked to plunge pools but they are getting permitted still
Also had the first time experience taking the subway to JFK on my trip home. While I was skeptical with the weekend trains, it turned out to be a great option without the stress of waiting on the freeway in a cab. I took the E and picked up the AirTran near the end of the line. From Mid-Town to JFK in 1.5 hours - during crazy Sunday traffic. Plus it only cost $7.

Check out the latest cool toys/tools

I've been using a few of our new services lately and can't help but recommend a few of my favorites. they are available in our 'sandbox area' - (the place where you can play with stuff before it grows up and gets released) located here: http://sandbox.msn.com/

    Top Picks right now:

Desktop Search - if you have lots of email, documents, photos, etc and don't always file them in the most organized way then this is going to be a huge asset for you. It has become an essential tool and time saver on my end.

Start.com - a clean elegant new interface. I've brought in some of my favorite RSS feeds into the front page and i love it.

TerraService - this rocks pure and simple. type in your address and watch it go. So easy for those of us who like the visuals. AMAZED at the speed. Imagine the possibilities.

    Check them out for yourself!

    Seattle in June

I've been busy at work these past couple of weeks and am just now getting to post some of the photos from our remodel. I was hoping to get the latest up but decided that i'd just share without them.

Either way we are now out of the basement and into the Master bedroom upstairs. Its been so wonderful on the warm nights to sleep with the french doors open and enjoy the summer.

we're looking forward to having visitors - the basement was successfully tested by Fred, Weibkke and Mia a couple of weeks ago and we they approved of it. Didn't even hear Mia in the middle of the night, of course I doubt she did anything but sleep!

    Life in an unfinished house....

It has been 8 months since we received the keys to our house and tonight we hope to finally move into our own bedroom. Its been an amusing experience restoring and remodeling but we've enjoyed the process. At least most of the time, I did get pretty tired of living in the dining room in the winter while we waited for the basement bedroom to be finished.
